Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups water for pearls and syrup
  • 2 cups milk whole, oat, or almond
  • 1 –2 cups ice cubes

  • 1 tablespoon condensed milk
  • Light sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Cook the pearls: Boil 4 cups water, add 1 cup tapioca pearls, cook 15–20 minutes until chewy, then drain and rinse.
  • Make brown sugar syrup: Combine 1 cup brown sugar with 1/2 cup water, simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened, then pour over pearls.
  • Assemble the drink: Fill a tall glass with ice, add pearls with syrup, pour 1 cup milk, stir gently to create the classic tiger stripes.
  • Serve: Insert a wide straw and enjoy your homemade brown sugar milk tea.
