Chicken Biryani

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces Use fresh chicken and allow to come to room temperature.
  • 1 cup yogurt Plain yogurt works best for marinating.
  • 2 tablespoons biryani spice mix Store-bought or homemade.

For the Biryani

  • 2 cups Basmati rice Rinse and soak for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • 4 cups water Use a water-to-rice ratio of 1:1.5.
  • 2 tablespoons oil For sautéing and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro For garnish.
  • 1/2 cup chopped mint For garnish.

Preparation

  • Marinate the chicken with yogurt and biryani spice mix. Let it marinate for at least one hour.
  • Soak the Basmati rice for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • In a pressure cooker, heat the oil and add the marinated chicken. Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the soaked rice and water to the pressure cooker, ensuring the rice is layered correctly over the chicken.
  • Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes, then leave to release pressure naturally.
  • Once cooked, garnish with chopped cilantro and mint before serving.

Notes

Use cold ingredients, and avoid overcooking the rice for best results. Serve garnished with fresh herbs.
