  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken or a homemade version.
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese For extra cheesy goodness, add more cheese towards the end of cooking.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • ½ cup milk Add for creaminess.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Garnish

  • chopped parsley Optional for garnish.

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients in one place.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onions until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • In your crockpot, start layering. Begin with half the potatoes, followed by half the beef mixture, then half the soup, and half the cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  • Pour the milk over the layered ingredients, and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Cooking

  • Secure the lid on your crockpot. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Once done, give it all a gentle stir and dish out hot servings for the family.

Notes

To freeze, let the casserole cool completely, then portion it into freezer-safe containers for up to 3 months. For reheating, add a splash of milk in the microwave to keep it creamy.
