  • 1-2 teaspoons of honey or sweetener optional

  • Hot water for dissolving matcha
  • You’ll need a small amount of hot water to whisk the matcha powder into a smooth paste before adding milk.
  • Ice optional, for iced matcha latte
  • If you’re making an iced version be sure to have ice cubes ready to chill your drink.

  • Step 1: Prepare the Matcha Paste
  • In a small bowl, add 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder. Pour in a small amount of hot water (about 2-3 tablespoons) — just enough to create a paste. Use a whisk (or a matcha whisk if you have one) to gently stir until the matcha powder is completely dissolved and there are no lumps.
  • Step 2: Heat the Milk
  • In a small saucepan, heat your milk (or milk alternative) over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent it from burning. If you have a milk frother, this is a great time to froth the milk for that perfect creamy texture. If you prefer a frothy latte, you can froth the milk with a hand frother or a blender.

  • Once your milk is heated and frothy (if desired), pour it into your matcha paste. Stir well to ensure the matcha is evenly mixed into the milk.
