  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  • Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Ripe Bananas: The riper the bananas, the better the flavor and moisture. Overripe bananas with brown spots are perfect for banana bread.
  • Butter or Oil: You can substitute butter with vegetable oil for a slightly lighter texture, but butter adds more flavor.
  • Add-ins: Feel free to add chocolate chips, walnuts, or dried fruit to personalize your banana bread.
  • Storage: Store banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Moisture Tip: If your banana bread starts to dry out over time, lightly toast individual slices with a bit of butter for a deliciously warm treat.
