- 2 cups 250g all-purpose flour
- 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup 120ml fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup 120ml vegetable oil or melted butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan – Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients – In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and orange zest.
Prepare Wet Ingredients – In a separate bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add orange juice, oil (or butter), and vanilla extract, and mix well.
Combine – Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Bake – Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool & Serve – Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with an orange glaze.
- Use Fresh Oranges – Freshly squeezed orange juice and zest give the best flavor.
- Don’t Overmix – Stir the batter just until combined to keep the cake light and fluffy.
- Adjust Sweetness – If your oranges are very sweet, reduce the sugar slightly.
- Storage – Keep the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- Glaze Option – Drizzle with a simple orange glaze for extra sweetness.
