Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 pound cooked bacon or sausage, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) for extra flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • If using bacon or sausage, cook it until crispy, then crumble it over the croissant pieces.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and meat layers in the baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese and chopped green onions over the top, distributing them evenly.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the dish from the fridge, uncover, and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For variations, use ham or veggies instead of bacon or sausage for a vegetarian option. This dish can be prepared two nights ahead. Consider using gluten-free bread to cater to dietary restrictions.
