  • 2 large eggs, room temperature Ensures better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.

For the frosting

  • 1 cup heavy cream Chilled for better whipping.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Optional, for chocolate flavor in frosting.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix the room temperature butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the chopped strawberries, and mix until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Frosting

  • While the cake cools, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, if using.
  • Once the cake is completely cooled, frost the top with the whipped cream mixture.
