  • 1 can 15 oz kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can 15 oz black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned.
  • Season with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir well to combine the spices with the meat and onions.

Cooking

  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and mix thoroughly.
  • Add kidney beans and black beans, stirring until everything is well combined.
  • Bring the chili to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
  • Cover and let it cook for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary; add more spices or salt if desired.

Serving

  • Serve hot with your choice of toppings.
