  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup milk Use cold milk for best results.

Fillings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack or mozzarella.
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage Use your favorite sausage.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter in until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  • Gently fold in the cheddar cheese and crumbled sausage.
  • Pour in the milk slowly while stirring. Mix only until the dough comes together—avoid overmixing.
  • Drop large spoonfuls of the dough into the baking dish, spacing them evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through.
  • Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Try adding sautéed vegetables for more flavor, or make the dough ahead of time for convenience. These biscuits are fantastic for breakfast, brunch, or as a side for a cozy dinner.
